Bay TRiO students! Come join us for our 3rd annual Winter STEM Institute that we will be hosting at Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) this year! We will be departing from HBHS at 9:30 am and returning at around 2:00 pm. Plan on dressing accordingly based on the weather forecast - we are excited to have you join us!

You will get a chance to engage with all the hands-on modules and activities OMSI offers, as well as you will get to watch a show in the planetarium! Your choices of a planetarium show are:

Dinosaurs

"Join Celeste and Moon on a journey through time for an exciting adventure to experience Earth as it was in the very, very distant past. Witness the fascinating transformations these animals underwent over millions of years, creating giant creatures, armored beasts, and super-predators until the day a cataclysmic impact event caused a mass extinction on Earth."

Starry Nights Live

"Planets, constellations, the zodiac, shooting stars and satellites are all in the night sky if you know when and where to look. Navigate by the stars and discover how you can become a backyard astronomer. This live presentation focuses on the night sky during the current month."

Solar Super Storms

"Solar Superstorms narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch takes viewers into the tangle of magnetic fields and super hot plasma that vent the Sun's rage in dramatic flares, violent solar tornadoes, and the largest eruptions in the solar system, coronal mass ejections. Audiences will witness a fury building on the surface of the Sun - high-velocity jets, a fiery tsunami wave that reaches 100,000 kilometers high, and rising loops of electrified gas. What's driving these strange phenomena? How will they affect planet Earth? Find the answers as we venture into the seething interior of our star."

Navajo Skies

"'Navajo Skies,' the final show of the fall season, is a full-dome animated star show featuring authentic Navajo astronomy stories told in Navajo and English, with traditional Navajo songs and Native American flute music."

Whichever selection you make when you sign up will be what you are attending at OMSI. As always, transportation and lunch will be provided.
