    ASWSUG Shogatsu (Japanese New Year)

Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 5:30 PM until 6:30 PMPacific Standard Time UTC -08:00

Join ASWSUG as we celebrate the New Year (Shotagsu) with some Japanese traditions! Kids are welcome to join in this family activity. We will be reading the short children’s story “Thank You Very Mochi,” which introduces readers to the tradition of pounding rice into mochi. Japan also has a tradition of a lion dance called shishi-mai, and we will be making our own lion felt puppets in recognition of those dances.

The first 10 Global Campus, S&A-fee-paying students who register by January 10 will receive free supplies for making a felt puppet as well as some mochi.
